Facebook has destroyed this forum & many others

Post by BaigZaheer »

FFI used to be a great forum a few years back but not any more.

I am still the Newest Member for almost 3 months and there are only a few active members.

I think it is better to shut it down.

Salaams, all.

No. It's best to keep this website and forums going. Facebook may have a lot of people on it but it is a very compromised platform. Censorship is rampant and arbitrary with Facebook as well as the other major social media platforms. I'm not saying that this is the safest platform available but it does have a long history and I appreciate FFI being here for as long as it has.

You have got a good point. Here, it is safe. Agree!

Indeed, Facebook is not safe and it is a compromised platform. The robotic moderator system is ridiculous and absurd.

I hope something new will destroy Facebook.

Hello BaigZaheer

Why do you want to close this site down? Is it because it has been clearly showing the unacceptable aspects of Islam, the errors in the Koran and Muhammad`s lust for power, wealth and women? It does not matter how many, or how few, people point out these matters that affect us all so long as the message gets out. Muslims do not like the truth about Islam being revealed. I think that your opening post is most revealing but not in the way that you intended.

Do you agree?

This forum gets read by some 1300 NEW readers a day, on average. We did have quite a lot of registrations, in facts thousands (3459) only this week, but their tend to be just spammers, for the most part. The trouble is, it takes quite some time to check them individually, more time that I have, and it is very dull. As a result I probably made quite a few mistakes.

I cannot check all of theses every day, and I have no help.

So if anyone wants to check all the new registrations every day, please let me know. I tried an alternative way, making the first post of every used go to the moderator queue, but I got literally hundreds of posts to delete every day, selling viagra, mostly.

Also, if you have friends who may be interested to join in, please get them to register, and pm me their username, I will set them up as full member right away.

Ans thanks again to Ahmend for his efforts...

sum,

Have you been brainwashed to go off-topic and post comments of no substance?

How can any person of substance agree with your off-topic comments of no substance?

The main point which you could not register and fathom is that Facebook has really destroyed many international forums.

This forum is not what it used to be back a few years ago when Ahmed and I used to write and face a lot of posters, most of whom are gone. I see only a few now. So, my point stands.

You too have a point on spammers and advertisers. Most of the members who used to take active part here, are now on various threads on Facebook. The number of active FFI is really down, Manfred. And Facebook has taken most away.

I write very seldom on Facebook now. It has become a junk site in my view. Folks have become addicted to it.

Nah!!! - not a good idea. For the most part, many non-Muslim posters are well versed with religious of Islam, where conversations are informative, civilized ( I am aware of your feud with sum) and educational. Granted, occasionally we do read insults from some Muslims (like SAMI-the-bull) and non-Muslims, but for the most part - it is a good place to read about Islam.

This forum, however, has helped many Muslim visitors to see their religion from a different perspective - away from the one-sided view to which they have been taught all their lives. We even have one former Muslim who chose to outright reject Islam's core ideology as a replacement to Judea & Christianity.

As for censorship of posts - best to have a provision where readers can label certain comments as offensive content. The one with most complaints will be sent to the garbage can.

You are absolutely right Habibi. Facebook is nothing more than a repository where they treat you as THE product through which they make billions. Your hopes, dreams, wants & needs are analyzed for one simple purpose - to manipulate you to buy products & services which otherwise you would not buy. They follow you even when you logged off your FB. They collect data on every internet site and every page you visit. What you read, what like or dislike.

How do they do it.? They have these 98 categories which they use to collect info on you:

In case you wonder, here is the list with which FB collect so much info on you. The funny part is - most of the data they collect is directly provided by those gullible users - thinking FB is safe place to "be yourself" & "there are no secrets".

Hello Baig. I logged on today, and the last time was July 8, 2018. I myself want to be more active here, but the last 3 yrs have been bad for that. I am the prime caregiver to my parents, and I have my own health problems that I have started caring for. Plus lots of stuff at work, and my last computer died. All these things changed my priorities. I mostly use FB for games and chatting. Most of my game friends are leftists and raise a stink if I post a meme against Obummer. Some delete me, which is good as it clears up my friend list. :heh:

I personally love it here, it was the second forum I joined after 9/11 (the first one no longer exists) and I was having doubts.

There is a new anti-censorship site called GAB which I learned of recently. I believe it works on the basis of typing URLs of comment-closed pages on youtube etc and allowing people to discuss and continue commenting on them. Haven't subscribed myself but looks very useful. Hope it takes off.
It is in the nature of wasp nests that some of their inhabitants are bound to sting someone. The closer you are to are to a wasp nest the more likely you are to get stung, sometimes fatally. Who would encourage wasps to establish a nest in their house?

GAB is pretty good for making new contacts. Not necessarily ex-Muslims but there are some very knowledgeable people there. Just be careful in the selection process since there are many anti-Semites on the boards. Many people can appear to be fair and balanced but can and do hide their agendas. There have been warnings from others about some members joining groups and then kicking off all the other admins in order to complete takeovers.

FFI's active and scholarly members have left the site quite a few years ago. There were many reasons and it was not fault of Ali Sina or organizers. Many members had difference of opinion with Ali and they left or some time kicked out.

FFI was very successful for first ten years and attracted lots of participants. There were other sites which copied FFI. Now there are many apostate sites. Facebook was not the main reason behind less participationYouTube offered lots of competition. No only that , bright author's and apostates from Pakistan, India and other countries now have lots of antijihadi sites. At U tube these participants get lots of recognition and earn money.Utube is more interactive and can have lots of fun there. To be honest , FFI is pretty old style in its presentation and other aspect. I understand it has to do with money as there are now few donors.

Still there is no reason to shut down the site. Even without forum it can survive if there are interesting articles and offers lots of on line resources about Islam .
