Belgium: Migrant population in Ghent doubles in 4 years

By ARTHUR LYONS
Image
Belgium’s second most populous city has seen its migrant population nearly double in the last four years alone, new reports have revealed.

The city of Ghent in East Flanders is now home to more than 3,000 asylum seekers – most of whom are men – who have come from mainly Afghanistan, Syria, and Somalia, Flemish newspaper Het Nieuwsblad reports.

Sixty percent of the 3,000 migrants are said to come from the aforementioned nations with more than three-quarters of them being men.

Despite the fact that the city’s asylum facilities are filled to the brim, Rudy Coddens, a local city official, claims that the community is up to the task and that there’s little to no opposition from the citizens.

“Ghent can handle this. There is great solidarity between different cultural communities. There is also support from the population,” Coddens said.

“We hear little grumbling. The figures are not high compared to the total inflow into Belgium,” he added.

Earlier this year in October, Voice of Europe reported on the reopening of a floating asylum center along the Rigakaii – a waterway close to central Ghent – to accommodate the unrelenting inflow of new migrants into the city. The floating pontoon asylum center hasn’t been needed since the height of the migrant crisis in 2015.

In the past few months, Belgium has seen several gruesome attacks on the elderly and young by migrants. In October, a 15-year-old boy was hospitalized with serious injuries after he was viciously beaten by a group of immigrant men in the municipality of Kalmthout in Antwerp.

Days later, an 88-year-old woman died in an Antwerp hospital after having her throat slashed by an immigrant man in the Raapstraat, a busy student area in Antwerp.

Belgium: Less than 1 in 10 migrants issued deportation orders are actually deported

By ARTHUR LYONS

Only 8.5 percent of migrants who’ve been issued deportation orders in Belgium end up actually being deported from the country, new government statistics have revealed.

Statistical data released by the Belgian Immigration Office has revealed that of the 33,386 illegal migrants who were issued deportation orders in 2018, only 7,399 are confirmed to have left the country, while just 2,842 people were actually deported, Vlaamse Radio Television (VRT) reports.

According to VRT, successfully returning migrants back to their homelands isn’t just a problem that’s unique Belgium. Other European countries are having difficulties with this as well. One of the main issues that limit the success of deportations is the lack of assistance from the migrant’s home countries.

“Everything depends on the cooperation of the country of origin,” explained Geert Devulder, a spokesman for Belgium’s Immigration Office. “Many countries make it difficult to deliver the necessary travel documents, especially if the person in question does not apply for them themselves.”

“With Albania, for example, the EU has a well-functioning readmission agreement,” Devulder added. Other countries such as those from the Middle East and Africa often take a long time to deliver the necessary travel documents for migrants to be sent home. In many cases, they fail to send them at all.

Days ago, Voice of Europe reported that the city of Ghent – Belgium’s second most populous city – has seen its migrant population nearly double in the last four years

Police shoot suspected stabber in Belgium – immediately after London attack (PHOTOS)

Image

Police in the Belgian city of Ghent have shot an injured a knife-wielding woman, after she stabbed two people. The incident took place around an hour after a “terrorist” knifeman was shot dead by police in London.

According to Belgian news site HLN, a dark-skinned woman attacked two passers-by with a knife on the Bevrijdingslaan street in central Ghent. The woman reportedly stabbed one of her victims in the stomach.

Armed police officers neutralized the woman with a gunshot to the hand, and she was taken into custody.

The two victims have been taken to hospital, but their condition is not believed to be serious.

An investigation has been opened, and the East Flanders Public Prosecutor’s Office has declined to comment at time of writing.

The attack came around an hour after police in London shot dead a suspected terrorist in the suburb of Streatham. The man attacked and injured three people with a knife, with one victim's injuries described by police as "life threatening."

In scenes similar to those in London, police in Ghent have cordoned off the Bevrijdingslaan, and emergency services are securing the area.

Belgium: Afghan man convicted of assaulting teenage girl

By EVA JANSSEN

A criminal court in West Flanders, Belgium has sentenced a military-aged male from Afghanistan to eight months in prison for sexually assaulting a teenage girl on the train.

Earlier this week, Irfanullah M, aged 33, was convicted of assaulting a 16-year-old girl on the train between Roeselare and Kortrijk back in January of 2019, Het Laatste Nieuws reports.

Irfanullah M., after realizing that the 16-year-old girl on the train was short three euros for the fare, offered to pay the three euros. But his intentions weren’t pure. Shortly after, the military-aged Afghan sat down next to the teenage girl, began harassing her, and even assaulted her.

According to the victim’s testimony, Irfanullah M. tried to kiss her and rubbed his breasts and buttocks with his hands in a sexually suggestive manner. Following the assault, the man sent the girl a friend request on Facebook, allowing police to easily identify him.

In court, the teenage victim said that the experience “left a deep impression” that remains a year later.

“I know nothing,” the 33-year-old Afghan told the judge. “I have a wife and children. I have never done anything bad. Can I appeal?”

Despite M’s claims, the judge had little sympathy and sentenced him to eight months in prison, half of which he’ll serve. In addition to his sentence, the judge ordered M to pay the victim 750 euros for her pain and suffering and pay a fine of 400 euros. The judge also barred Irfanullah M. from holding any positions of authority over minors for five years.

Belgian woman receives 3-year prison sentence for hitting her asylum-seeker stalker with a wooden pole

By EVA JANSSEN

A court in Turnhout, Belgium has sentenced a woman and her former work colleague to three years in prison for hitting and injuring an asylum seeker with a wooden pole after he had stalked and threatened the woman continuously for months.

The Syrian asylum seeker began stalking 55-year-old Patricia S. after she ended a brief relationship with him during the beginning of spring in 2019, SCEPTR reports.

After being stalked and harassed for nearly a year by the asylum seeker, the woman began to get nervous. Among other things, the asylum seeker would send threatening emails to Patricia and regularly show up at her home unannounced.

On April 3rd, 2019, the asylum seeker once again showed up at Patricia’s place of residence. Feeling threatened, Patricia called a former colleague by the name of Tom B., who quickly jumped into his car and sped over to her house. By the time Tom arrived the Syrian stalker had already left the on foot.

The pair then ran after the fleeing Syrian, caught up to him, and hit him with a wooden pole.

Originally, prosecutors charged Patricia and Tom both with premeditated murder and demanded that they both receive a 6-year prison sentence. The court disagreed, however, and ruled that the incident was a matter of assault with injury, not attempted murder.

The two were subsequently sentenced to 3 years in prison.

Notice that she didn't pt a restraining order here--the muslim male stalked her--and whatever this case--but sadly they still got 3 years--the muslim played the victim card clearly despite stalking her. You have to have your ducks in a row--sounds like they did legitimately beat him up. The article is unclear--i would hesitate there's more to this.

That's it Glitch. There is nothing more to tell . However, what this article does not mention is that the woman worked in the center for refugees where the Syrian lived.

I guess that stupid woman has learned the hard way not to have a relationship with a asylum seeker. You would think at here age, she would be wiser.

Belgium: ‘White People Not Welcome’ event to be held in Brussels this month

This month in Brussels, to celebrate ‘Black History Month’ an event will be held – the Black Liberation event – where white people are simply not welcome, unless of course, they are there to volunteer to take care of the black participants or if they are accompanied by one or more black people, SCEPTR reports.

“Non-black people are only welcomed if they are accompanied by a black person. Black people always get priority,” a description of the event reads.

Interestingly enough, white people are also welcomed by event organizers to clean up the waste of those who attend the Black Liberation event.

“Non-black people are invited to do volunteer work for the participants and the space, then cook and tidy up, to donate a MINIMUM of € 10 per person,” the event description reads.

Each year, people around the world celebrate key figures and important events of the African diaspora. In the past, however, events surrounding Black History Month have been mainly focused on the achievements and positive things brought to the world by the African diaspora, not those [white people]who allegedly continue to oppress them.

The event is set to take place on March 25th in the Belgian capital of Brussels. According to event organizers, the event’s central question is how black people in Europe can be “freed” from discrimination.

Belgium: Surgical masks ordered for migrants but not Belgians; Turkish mask supplier defrauds government

The Belgian government ordered surgical masks for the Klein Kasteeltje ( small castle) center for asylum-seekers in Brussels a month ago, at the same time that it was telling Belgians that they only needed to wash their hands to protect themselves from COVID-19, or the coronavirus.

Belgium’s Health Minister, Maggie De Block, is also the Secretary of State for Asylum and Migration. De Block placed an order for surgical masks for the migrant center in the amount of 30,000 euros, according to a report from SCEPTR.

At the same time, De Block and virologist Marc Van Ranst were telling Belgians in television interviews not to panic, because just washing one’s hands was enough to prevent a coronavirus infection.

As of Sunday, Belgium has reported nearly 1,100 confirmed cases of coronavirus infection, and Belgium’s medical staff are suffering from a shortage of masks.

To deal with the emergency, last week the Belgian government placed an order for 5 million surgical masks from a company in Turkey that were supposed to be delivered by Sunday at the latest. In yet another government failure, the masks never arrived, and De Block admitted today that they had been defrauded by their Turkish supplier, and that chances were “minimal” that they would ever receive any, according to another report by SCEPTR.

Given this situation, Belgium has a real crisis on its hands now, as it currently only has 500,000 masks in stock. As an emergency measure the government has requested that private citizens with extra masks to donate them to the hospitals.

The fact that Belgium thought of the safety of migrants before that of its own citizens is ironic, especially since, as Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán recently pointed out, immigration is what brought the coronavirus to Europe in the first place, as reported by Voice of Europe.

Belgium: Migrants resist, spit on police as they reject coronavirus measures

Immigrants in Belgium aren’t very happy with the measures imposed to contain the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, and they’re taking their frustrations out on the police.

Officers have been charged with making people aware of the new social distancing proscriptions. On Friday evening in Schaerbeek, Brussels, police spotted a group of four young “ethnic minorities” who were not abiding by the regulation. They stopped the youngsters to remind them of the new rules and asked for their identity papers, according to a report at SCEPTR.

The immigrants didn’t like this, and one of them began calling for others on the street to protest the “police brutality.” In response, more and more immigrants came and surrounded the officers, who called for backup out of concern that the situation was getting out of hand. The police forced the bystanders to disperse in accordance with the social distancing rules, using tear gas against those who resisted. In the end, the man who had started shouting was arrested and the others in the group were fined.

Also, on Thursday afternoon, police pulled over a car that was travelling in Wommelgem because it was carrying four passengers, which is also against the coronavirus measures. One of the passengers became angry and began insulting the officers and spitting on them. When the police tried to place a mask on his face for their protection, he resisted violently and told them he was infected with the coronavirus. The man was arrested, but he continued spitting at officers even after he was put in a holding cell, according to another report by SCEPTR.

That evening, a 38-year-old man from Antwerp also became aggressive with officers at a routine traffic control stop. When they put him in handcuffs, he spat in the face of one of them, claiming to have the coronavirus.

Both men were brought before the Public Prosecutor, who has asked for them to be arrested.

Such incidents are becoming common all over Belgium — and not only there. Similar reports have emerged from Germany, as previously reported by Voice of Europe, as well as in the UK, where Tommy Robinson intervened to protect an elderly couple who were being coughed on.

Clashes of new Belgians in Brussels with police ,while country is supposed to be on lockdown due to coronavirus.

The cause of the riots was the death of a young man who was persecuted by police for violating the restrictions on movement in a coronavirus epidemic.

Youths in Anderlecht in Brussels clashed with police overnight after a young man died while trying to escape from a police control.

The clashes led to 45 arrests by Saturday evening. The troubles took place mainly around metro station Clemenceau and the Place du Conseil, where the town hall is situated.

The 19-year-old was riding a scooter when he was stopped by police for a check on his movements. He instead tried to escape, and later died when he drove into a police car while riding on the wrong side of the road.

The incident is being investigated by the Brussels prosecutor’s office.

In the meantime, the news of the accident brought a number of young men onto the streets in defiance of the lockdown, where they encountered a reinforced police presence.

A running battle ensued, with youths throwing stones and police responding with baton charges. Several cars were set alight, and one witness video showed a masked youth running off with what appears to be a police firearm lifted from a police van, firing it into the air.

The family of the dead youth, named as Adil, intervened to appeal for calm.

“Adil was a very calm young man, always smiling and full of life,” his aunt told Sudinfo. “He was liked by everyone, his family, his friends. He was a boy without problems, a diabetic of fragile health.”
The rioters, she said, were all young.

“They are carefree, for sure, but all we ask for now is for them to allow us, his family, to mourn his passing.”

The mayor of Anderlecht, Fabrice Cumps, said the idea of mourning was far from the minds of the trouble-makers.

“One thing is for sure, they didn’t come here to mourn the memory of young Adil. They came here to cause a riot, they came to cause violence. Their motivation is very clear.”

By the early hours of the morning the situation had settled, with the presence of reinforcements from the federal police for the local force of Zone Brussels-South, including police vans and water cannon.

Police chief Patrick Evenepoel said the situation was “under control,” but that police were ready to intervene if the violence started up again.

Belgium: Afghan migrant who threatened to blow up Christians arrested

Belgian police on Sunday arrested an Afghan migrant and resident of the Houthalen Helchteren asylum facility for threatening to murder staff members and a blow up Christians.

The Afghan national, who has repeatedly caused problems at the asylum center in Flanders, is also suspected of committing sexual offenses, the Dutch-language regional newspaper Het Belang van Limburg reports.

Earlier in the week, after refusing to follow simple hand-washing instructions to help prevent the spread of the Wuhan coronavirus, the Afghan migrant became aggressive and began spitting and coughing on staff members at the living facility. Apparently, his reason for refusing to wash his hands was because the soap contained alcohol and the “consumption” of alcohol is forbidden during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

On Friday, the aggressive Afghan asylum seeker caused another stir at the living facility when he threatened employees again. This time, however, he said that he threatened to slash Christians’ and staff members’ throats and threatened blow himself up in order to kill as many Christians as possible.

Following the unprovoked, violent threats, police were called to the asylum center and arrived on the scene shortly thereafter before taking the man into custody. Over the weekend, the Afghan was brought before a judge who decided to arrest and charge him with criminal offenses. The man is also suspected of committing a number of sexual offenses earlier this year.

Well, this happens, if the media can't or dare not tell the true story of what is happening in their country. The world should not be told that the Belguims are anti-social people

:nono1: So...Let me correct this article. "Belgium, where cops are fighting their own citizens" should be...Belgium, where cops are fighting anti-social immigrants.
BATTLE IN BELGIUM
ROWDY BEACH-GOERS FIGHT OFF COPS ...

Americans are far from the only ones going stir-crazy -- because chaos can be found anywhere these days ... notably, Belgium, where cops are fighting their own citizens.

Check out this insane brouhaha that broke out Saturday at a Blankenberge beach -- where cops were sent in to break up a crowd of young'ns young muslim groups, who were sitting on the breakwater ... this after a lifeguard had told them to scram since it was prohibited. ( Me...because they did not bother to keep the 5 feet distance)

Welp, when the cops showed ... all hell broke loose. The video picks up right in the middle of the action -- officers were creeping upon beach-goers with batons drawn and face masks on, but the crowd was quick to strike back early and often ... against the cops and even against themselves.

You see some people trying to stop the violence, to no avail. People are hurling beach chairs and umbrella poles and umbrellas. Speaking of the latter, watch how one guy straight up swings a giant beach umbrella at a cop, who doesn't flinch.

Rules and order ... a thing of the past in 2020, it seems.
Poor Belgians. Because of those idiots, people who do not live in Blankenberge are not allowed to the beaches anymore.

This is the new normal in Belgium lately.

Three young immigrants arrested for driving vehicle into right-wing demonstration

Last Friday, three young men were arrested after they drove their vehicle into a demonstration of Flemish nationalists in the Belgian town of Puurs at high speed. The public prosecutor's office confirmed this to Belgium's SCEPTR news outlet, refusing to disclose more information about the suspects, however, according to the Belgian RTV television station, the suspects are men of foreign origin.

The Flemish nationalists organized the demonstration in response to the senseless violence of a group of immigrant youths, which happened in the town earlier that week. The rally went quietly until suddenly a car with its headlights turned off tried to drive into the crowd at high speed. By miracle, there were no injuries.

The driver sped away, but officers searching for the perpetrators stopped the vehicle near the scene, and the three suspects were arrested. They turned out to be three 19-year-old young men, the public prosecutor confirms to SCEPTR

Later on Twitter, SCEPTR informed that the man, who drove into the rally, has been released. According to the public prosecutor, there was not enough evidence that they drove into the crowd deliberately.

No more Christmas celebrations in Brugge, but Wintergloed ( Winter Glow ) and also the name of the Christmas market is changed into wintermarket.

Bruges turns off its ‘Wintergloed’ lights on Sunday evening

The “Wintergloed” show of lights in Brugge will be turned off on Sunday evening after attracting too large a crowd on the previous day, according to the city’s authorities.

“We first need to see how we can organise everything safely,” Mayor Dirk De fauw explained on Sunday.

The show, during which 10 of Bruges’ most iconic sites are bathed in light, will not be resumed next weekend either, the idea being to prevent crowds from building up in the city. Priority will be given instead to the city’s businesses, which will have reopened shortly before.

It is notable how those who rail against "Islamophobia" imagine that significant numbers Muslims are so fanatical that they that they are going to be offended by the word "Christmas". These "anti-phobes" also display their ignorance of what Muslims actually believe about Jesus. Muslims share the Christian view of Jesus as the Jewish Messiah. Indeed, at least one English rendering of the Quran translates the Arabic word for "Messiah" as "Christ". Islam can therefore itself be regarded as a variety of Christianity that doesn't accept the crucifixion, divinity or sonhood of Christ. Everybody knows that Christmas is a pagan festival that was taken over by the church and designated to commemorate the birth of Jesus - the actual date of which is unknown. So it is quite possible for Muslims to celebrate the "mas" of their version of Christ at the same time as mainstream Christians without fearling they are going to anger Allah. Indeed, I see plenty of Muslim-owned shops with Christmas decorations in their windows.

I've said all this in previous years.

My main point is that those who assume that most, or all, Muslims are going to be "hurt" or "offended" by the word "Christmas" are being "Islamophobic" in the very sense that they themselves define the word and throw it at critics of Islam.
